David Capuano
Born and raised in Mexico City, David has always been enthralled by the movements of life and our place in time-space. This led him to The University of Southern California to pursue arts, communication, language and philosophy.
Due to his intimate connection to Japan, he then moved to Tokyo, where he has spent most of his professional career learning from the great masters of times past such as Sen no Rikyu, Junichiro Tanizaki, Kamo no Chomei, Yosa Buson and Matsuo Basho whom recall to ancient connections to encapsule the three realms of reality in a single frame. David has spent countless hours seeking out and consulting spiritual leaders from the multiple types of Buddhism and Shintoism that are scattered throughout Japan to further understand his purpose in the ever evolving world of chaos.
Thus, Solitude, Shadows, and Transcendence became a steering force in David’s photography. He then applies the Japanese concept of 'Ma' 間 (The interpretable empty spaces) to photography where he renders imagery reminiscent of Sumi-E (Ink Painings).
David has recently exhibited with ‘Acapulco: Diamond of the Pacific’ alongside the City of Sendai and the Mexican Secretary of Exterior Relations to deepen and enrich the diplomatic bilateral relations between the countries that provide life and inspiration to his work.
